‘Clever Girl’ says there should be no bimbos

-

REALITY show Clever Girl Malaysia winner Sara Amelia Muhammad Bernard believes that beauty, brains and health go hand in hand.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, Sara, who is of Malay and German parentage, said she is active in sports, such as taekwondo and muay thai.

She also scored well in her SPM and went on to do Alevel studies in Mathematics, Psychology and Economics at a private college before going into modelling and emceeing.

“Many are baffled as to why I chose a career in arts when I could get into other professions.

“I’m someone who likes to try new things and if I feel comfortable with something, I do it with gusto,” she said.

Sara, 25, said she wanted to prove that women are not only beautiful but also intellectual.

“The word ‘bimbo’ shouldn’t exist because every woman has abilities and can be an inspiration to society,” said the eldest child of three.

She added that society respects and looks up to women who are not only beautiful but also knowledgeable.

Sara Amelia, who represented Perak in the show, was declared the champion in the finale’s live broadcast last Friday.

She defeated three others to win the RM100,000 cash prize.

> Fish prices have shot up due to the uncertain weather, low supply and unscrupulous suppliers, reported Harian Metro.

The prices not only increased in the Klang Valley but also in Perak where mackerels are selling at RM18 per kg.

A trader at Batu Lima market in Parit Buntar, Perak, Saiful Lazim Abas, 44, said the uncertain weather and low supply has resulted in suppliers raising prices.

“As the prices quoted by the suppliers are quite high, traders like us do not think of getting high profits, instead we take the minimum,” he said.

In Langkawi, Kuah market trader Mariam Ahmad, 50, said it was impossible to sell at a lower price because she bought the fish at a high price.

She had to sell mackerel at RM22 per kg due to the prices charged by her suppliers.

However, a recent check found that the prices have come down by RM6 to RM8.

In Alor Setar, Kedah, trader Bokory Ibrahim, 30, said pomfret is selling at RM33 per kg, red snapper at RM14 per kg, and groupers at RM10 per kg, among others.
