Cops round up illegals in KL’s Jalan Imbi area
KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has launched an operation to catch illegal workers in Jalan Imbi.
The move comes following a scuffle between police and foreign workers along Jalan Abraham recently.
A spokesman from the department said the operations, which began at midnight yesterday, has officers from the department, police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall personnel checking more than 150 foreigners.
“We checked 131 China nationals, 23 Nepalese, two Filipinas and a Myanmar man.
“We detained 28, including 12 Indian nationals, nine Bangladeshi men and seven Nepalese,” he said, adding that the men were being probed for not having travel documents or work permits.
