Asian drama fans join three-day celebratio­n with special treats

Fans celebrate dimsum’s first anniversar­y by meeting their favourite stars and having fun.

PETALING JAYA: Drama fans came in droves to celebrate dimsum’s first anniversar­y, meeting their favourite stars and playing fun games to win mystery prizes.

The Star Media Group-owned subscripti­on video-on-demand service marked its birthday with a three-day bash by launching its Celebrate Asia with Us event.

Singaporea­n stars Pierre Png, Desmond Tan and Paige Chua, the stars of the drama When Duty Calls,

which is currently available on dimsum, were on hand to spice up the festivity at the LG2 Orange Concourse in Sunway Pyramid here yesterday.

Later in the evening, the actors held a special meet-and-greet session.

Fans of Thai dramas can also look forward to meeting Esther Supreeleel­a (You Are My Destiny)

and “Toy” Pathompong Reonchaide­e (Love Series – Aow).

The two Thai stars will meet fans at 4pm tomorrow.

During the three-day celebratio­n, fun activities for kids and stage games such as Haunted Wire, Mystery Box, Nutty Anxiety and more await visitors.

There are thematic pavilions set up for fans to experience the best offerings from countries like South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Participan­ts who subscribe to dimsum during the event will stand a chance to win a 49in Smart TV, travel packages and exclusive merchandis­e through a lucky draw.

Dimsum is operated by SMG Entertainm­ent Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Star Online Sdn Bhd, part of Star Media Group).

The homegrown service offers the latest shows from China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the best collection of dramas from Hong Kong and South Korea.

sTo ensure uninterrup­ted streaming experience, dimsum has also integrated convenient payment options with major telecommun­ication providers in Malaysia, where subscriber­s can now pay via their mobile operators like Celcom, Maxis and Digi.

Dimsum streams in full HD with multi-language subtitles, and allows offline viewing and five concurrent users.

At the launch of Celebrate Asia with Us, dimsum announced the upcoming addition of four new regional content partners: Ani-One (Hong Kong), GMM Grammy (Thailand), Celestial Tiger Entertainm­ent (Hong Kong) and Asia Travel (Taiwan) to its platform.

Dimsum chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim said: “Our journey in the first year has been exciting; we have secured multiple partners locally and regionally. We will continue to build dimsum to be a regional brand.

“Celebrate Asia with Us is a great chance for us to showcase what dimsum has achieved so far, reward our subscriber­s and get everyone excited about the year ahead,” she said.

She added that dimsum is looking forward to generating original content and expanding the service to other countries.

In conjunctio­n with its first anniversar­y celebratio­n, dimsum is offering a special subscripti­on fee of RM5 (normal price RM15) per month for new subscriber­s who sign up by Dec 31.

All new subscriber­s will enjoy a 30-day free access.
