Gang stole RM100,000 in gadgets in six months

SEPANG: Although only known to have been operating for six months, a gang of thieves are believed to have stolen about RM100,000 worth of electronic gadgets.

The Sarvin Gang was brought down after a string of robberies in Sepang led the police to them.

Police got a breakthrough when its members were caught on CCTV cameras breaking into a university laboratory in Kajang, where they stole about RM20,000 in computers.

The men were also identified in the footage from earlier cases.

The first arrest was made on Nov 25 after police traced the main operator to Segamat, Johor, and another was caught in Sri Petaling on the same day.

The man arrested in Segamat, Johor, was jailed previously for 28 offences.

Police were led to Low Yat Plaza where the two suspects identified a shop that sold their stolen wares. Two Pakistani men, aged 21 and 41, were arrested there on Nov 26.

Police are still on the hunt for 40yearold Ravi Suppiah, the “pointman and mastermind”.

Investigations on the gang linked its members to at least 19 cases, going as far as Penang.

At yesterday’s press conference at the Sepang police headquarters, district OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali called on victims to come forward to identify their items.
