Going for marriage course again serves as a refresher, says Dynas

-

THIRTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Dynas Mokhtar, whose real name is Wan Intan Edrinas Wan Mokhtar (pic), said the second time around served as a refresher before she ties the knot with Shazrik Din, 34. They will be married in April.

“Shazrik and I attended the course on Saturday. It was quite funny because the other participants were young and we, a bit older.

“I didn’t have to attend it because I was married before this, but Shazrik asked me to,” said the Impak Maksima actress.

“Shazrik said that in a marriage, one cannot make independent decisions. Discussion between partners is a must,” said Dynas, who got engaged in October after four years of courtship.

> The daily also reported that despite being ill, single mother Azreena Abd Aziz, 41, pedalled 5km every day on her bicycle to take her daughter to school from their home in Kampung Banda Kaba, Melaka.

Azreena, who suffers from fibroids, said the journey was physically painful but she bore it because she wanted to see Puteri Nur Aisyh Abdullah, eight, succeed in her studies.

Since her husband disappeared about a year ago, the cleaner took on the full responsibility of looking after Puteri.

“I take her to school and also fetch her back home, as I work evening shifts.

“I often cry at the thought of her staying home alone because my shift is from 2pm to 11pm,” she said.

Azreena, who works part-time, does not have a fixed income.

Her illness does not allow her to take on heavy duty jobs as it would cause her prolonged pain.

“I worry about Puteri’s safety but I don’t have any other source of income,” said Azreena.

Azreena and Puteri live in an old rented house with a leaking roof.

> Fellow villagers know the 60-year-old simply as “Sitah”, but her full name is Santa Dewi Sukir.

According to Sinar Harian, the assistant at a school in Bagan Datuk, Perak, had been mistaken for an Indonesian or an Indian because of her name.

“People get confused by my name. It’s really funny,” she said.

Santa Dewi said not many people knew her real name as she usually went by just “Sitah”.

An uncle gave her the name of Santa Dewi, although her siblings had more conventional names.

“Only my employer calls me Dewi because it’s unique.

“Some of my friends know, but they don’t make fun of my name,” she said.

The mother-of-four said she thought about changing her name before, but decided not to because of the complicated process.
