Delegation from China taken in by teaching at Tamil school

A GROUP of teachers and educators from China that was visiting Chinese schools in Kuala Lumpur was impressed by the teaching at SJK(T) St Joseph in Sentul when they stopped by for an impromptu visit, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The 10-member delegation was visiting a Chinese school nearby when they noticed the Tamil school and expressed an interest to observe classroom activity.

They were welcomed by headmistre­ss B. Valarmathi.

The delegation was impressed by the teaching and the dynamic way students responded to the lessons and questions from the visitors.

The visitors also expressed an interest in maintainin­g mutual interactio­n between the schools, which could be beneficial to pupils in both countries.

SJK(T) St Joseph, which was establishe­d in 1924, remains the only Tamil girls’ school in the country.

> A man in Telangana, India, was arrested for throwing his slippers at popular South Indian actress Tamanna, Tamil dailies reported.

The actress, who starred in dozens of films, was attending the opening of a jewellery shop in Hyderabad when the incident happened.

The slippers, thrown by the engineer identified only as Karimullah, hit a shop employee instead.

Police officers providing security at the event apprehende­d the man.

He is said to have been upset over some controvers­ial roles Tamanna had taken on in recent films.
