Dad detained again after injuries found in daughter’s post-mortem

-

PORT DICKSON: A father who was detained and released for allegedly abusing his daughter is back in police custody for possibly having a hand in her death.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested with his wife, who is the nine-yearold girl’s stepmother, after a post-mortem showed severe injuries to her internal organs, including the kidney and intestines.

There were also fractures in her ribs.

Port Dickson OCPD Supt Zainudin Ahmad said doctors found swellings on the body of the girl, identified as Nur Aina Nabihah Muhammad, which indicated possible abuse.

He said the man was arrested and the case was being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“We questioned him in June last year after his ex-wife found bruises and swelling on the girl's body after picking her up from the suspect’s home.

“During interrogation, the man admitted to hitting the child but said that it was to educate her,” he said.

He said the suspect brought the girl to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban just before midnight on Wednesday after he claimed to have found her unconscious at their home in Taman Vista Jaya in Lukut.

“The suspect said he tried performing CPR on the victim when he found her unconscious but she did not respond.

“He then rushed her to Seremban where doctors pronounced her dead an hour later,” he said.
