Ex-fireman in court for starting fire
SEREMBAN: A former fireman claimed trial to a charge of deliberately starting a fire at the iconic Then Sze Koon temple near here.
L. Kogilan, 24, who was detained a day after the fire on Jan 21, was charged with arson, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine.
Sessions Court judge Fathiyah Idris allowed the suspect, who was unrepresented, to be freed on a RM8,000 bail and fixed March 13 for remention.
Separately, at a magistrate’s court earlier, Kogilan also claimed trial to a charge of breaking-in and theft at the temple.
