-

WORSHIPPERS at Pulau Ketam Kariah Mosque in Jitra were shocked to discover the bloated body of a baby boy near the entrance on Tuesday, Kosmo! reported.

Kubang Pasu OCPD Supt Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said the body, which was wrapped in batik, was discovered during morning prayers.

He said the body was intact but had started to bloat.

Medical personnel from Jitra Hospital confirmed that the baby had died more than 24 hours earli- er, he added.

The body was sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing birth.

The mosque’s imam, Solahuddin Ishak, said a worshipper saw a black plastic bag and took it to the dustbin.

“He thought the bag was filled with rubbish, but it was strangely heavy.

“He was shocked when he saw the baby’s remains inside,” said Solahuddin.

It is believed that the body was dumped between midnight and early morning, as the mosque’s caretaker did not find anything in the area when he made his rounds at 11pm.

Ayda clarified that the ceremony, which took place a week ago, was for her sister Sabira’s engagement.

She said she was happy that her younger sister was engaged, and said everyone had their match somewhere.

“I’m still solo and I don’t belong to anyone yet,” she said.

The artiste said as a result, her mother had also been contacted by many people asking about the event.

“Mother also had to answer calls and messages non-stop,” said Ayda, the female lead in the recent movie Pinjamkan Hatiku.

She added that she was disappointed with individuals who had streamed the full movie on social media.

She said this act was a betrayal of the production team, who had put a lot of effort and commitment into the project.
