Asian Tour’s Order of Merit gets a rebrand
THE US PGA Tour has got the FedEx Cup while European Tour has the Race to Dubai.
And it’s only fitting that Asian Tour, being the third largest golf Tour in the world, has now given its season-long competition an uplift by renaming its Order of Merit as Habitat for Humanity Standings.
Habitat for Humanity is a global non-profit housing organisation that works with families to build or improve a place that they can call home.
They came on board as the Asian Tours Order of Merit partner for the 2018 season yesterday.
The unique partnership will see the Habitat leveraging on the Asian Tours’ global presence to promote its vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat has helped more than 13.2 million people around the world obtain proper shelters.
In the Asia-Pacific itself, Habitat operates in over 17 countries including the Philippines, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, which all are hosts for Asian Tour tournaments.
Reigning Asian Tour No. 1 Gavin Kyle Green has hailed the new development and charity initiatives.
“We’re all aware of how privileged we are as professional golfers to be able to play golf around the world, and I think this partnership will be a great motivator to all of us on the Asian Tour to focus on how we can get involved personally and help support the great work by Habitat for Humanity,” he said.
