FAM win Most Dynamic Sports Association award

-

PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have won the Most Dynamic Sports Association award from the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM).

The achievements of the national Under-23, Under-19 and Under-16 teams in qualifying for their respective age group finals at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) level won them the award.

SAM president Ahmad Khawari Isa said the achievements of the three squads under FAM showed that the national body’s development plans were on the right track.

“Their achievements need to be recognised as it’s a significant improvement. I hope this recognition will spur FAM to work harder to come up with long-term plans to put the country’s football back on the map,” said Khawari in a statement yesterday.

The transformation in FAM initiated by president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is changing the landscape of Malaysian football in terms of M-League organisation and coaching education.

The national body have also improved talent scouting and the organisation of local leagues at the state level.

They are also working hand in hand with the Youth and Sports Ministry under the National Football Development Plan (NFDP) to produce new talents.

SAM will honour the FAM at the 100PLUSSAM award night at PJ Hilton on Thursday.
