Listen, you can inspire kids to be kinder
PETALING JAYA: Parents who want to help create a kinder society for their children can learn from developmental psychologist Dr Goh Chee Leong at a free talk tomorrow.
Dr Goh will be speaking at the StarLIVE event at 10am at the SP Setia Network Hub, Setia Alam, and the public can sign up for free.
“Children base their behaviour on their surroundings, and parents really need to check how their own reactions and behaviour can affect them,” said Dr Goh, dean of HELP University’s Psychology Department.
The talk, organised in conjunction with the #StandTogether National Kindness Week campaign, will educate participants on how to raise children to be kind, and to help young bullies see their communities in a more positive way.
“Bullies need to see that love is more powerful than hate,” said Dr Goh, a key adviser of the #StandTogether campaign.
#StandTogether National Kindness Week is a joint campaign by R.AGE and SP Setia in response to the spate of horrifying bullying incidents last year.
The campaign aims to create an annual National Kindness Week in all schools in the first week of April every year, and is headed by volunteers from Unicef Malaysia, Digi, Teach For Malaysia, Study Hub Asia and 100 Percent Project.
