Azmin: Pakatan will decide on six remaining state seats after redelineation exercise
AMPANG: Selangor Pakatan Harapan will wait until the tabling of the Election Commission’s (EC) redelineation proposal in Parliament to decide on the seat allocation for the six remaining state seats.
PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said yesterday they were still in the process of determining which component party would contest in these six seats in the general election.
“The situation in Selangor is unique because it involves the redelineation of electoral boundaries.
“We have objected during the public hearings and in court. Now, we will wait until the proposal is passed by the Dewan Rakyat before discussing with the component parties,” he said at an event in Bukit Antarabangsa.

Bersatu Malaysia, PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara.
Of the 56 seats in total in Selangor, the coalition has yet to come to an agreement on the seat
allocation for six seats.
Azmin, who is also Selangor Mentri Besar, believes voters in Selangor would still vote in Pakatan to form the state government despite the redelineation.
“I strongly believe in the wisdom of Selangorians. Since 2008, Pakatan has carried out the duties with integrity and will continue to do so,” he said.
On March 2, the EC received the nod from the Court of Appeal to submit the report to the Prime Minister after it unanimously dismissed an application for a restraining order by the Selangor government.
Meanwhile, Azmin has challenged Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang to contest in the Bukit Antarabangsa state seat – which Azmin currently holds – to battle it out over Selangor’s water issues.
He said Dr Zaini was making comments “like a politician”.
“To suggest that RM17bil will be borne by the Federal Government through Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) to finalise the water supply restructuring exercise in Selangor is not true.
“Yes, the restructuring is borne by PAAB, but the state is handing over water asset that is equal in value,” he said.
Azmin also refuted Dr Zaini’s claim that the water storage margin in Selangor was at 0%.
“We have produced evidence to show that our dams are at 100% capacity and our reserves increased from 3% to 6%.
“In two years, we have reduced the non-revenue water from 33% to 30% because we replaced the old pipes at a cost of RM500mil from state coffers,” he said.
Later, Azmin attended a people’s gathering held in conjunction with Pakatan Harapan’s 10th anniversary at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam.
