Chance to represent Malaysia in London
THE English Speaking Union (ESU) of Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute for Debate and Public Speaking (MIDP) and The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus will once again be organising their annual Public Speaking Competition.
The competition is open to all Malaysians aged between 16 and 20.
Special public speaking workshops providing tips on public speaking as well as preparing participants to take part in the competition will take place on April 21, from 10am to 5pm at the University of Nottingham in Level 2, Chulan Tower, Jalan Conlay in Kuala Lumpur, KDU Penang University College (KDU Penang) in Jalan Anson, George Town and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) in Kota Samarahan, Kuching.
Interested participants can register for the heats to be held on April 22, from 10am to 5pm at the same venues as the workshops in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kuching.
The theme for the heats is “Great Artists Have No Country”.
The finals of the competition wll be held at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus in Semenyih, Selangor, on April 28, from 2.30pm to 5pm.
The theme for the semi-finals and finals is “The Best Way To Predict The Future Is To Invent It”.
Participants will be judged on the substance of their speech, expression and delivery.
ESU Malaysia chairman Tunku Dara Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah Tuanku Ja’afar said the national champion will win an all-expenses paid trip to London to take part in the International Public Speaking Competition, to be held from May 14 to 18.
All workshop participants will receive certificates of participation while all finalists will receive certificates of merit as well as book vouchers.

The fees for the workshop and heats are RM100 and RM50 per student respectively.
