Siti Nurhaliza an Datuk K welcom first child after 11 years of marriage.

PETALING JAYA: It was the birth of a child which set the country alight, with social media abuzz after news broke that celebrity Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin had become a mother.

After a wait of more than 11 years, the country’s top singer gave birth to a 3.55kg baby girl via caesarean section at a medical centre in Kuala Lumpur at 8.17am yesterday.

The announcement was made via an Instagram post by Siti’s manager Rozi Razak.

Siti’s husband Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, 59, said mother and daughter were doing great.

He said he was grateful for Siti’s safe and smooth labour, saying they chose Monday for the birth of their first child as Prophet Muhammad was born on a Monday and it was coincidentally the first day of the Islamic month of Rejab.

“Thank you for all the prayers and support from family members, friends, fans and media practitioners throughout her pregnancy till birth.

“For the time being, Siti needs some space to relax and concentrate on the early days of motherhood,” he said in a statement posted on the singer’s official Facebook page.

Rozi said the couple would announce their daughter’s full name within seven days.

As of now, her name is known to begin with Siti A and the temporary nickname is Fatimah Az Zahra, based on the name of Prophet Muhammad’s child.

“At the moment, I can only tell that the name begins with Siti A,” Rozi told mStar Online, the Star Media Group’s Bahasa Malaysia portal.

The 39-year-old pop diva from Pahang asked for time and space before showing her daughter to the public.

“During this time, Siti wants to be given time to rest and focus on the early days of being a mother,” said Rozi.

Facebook user Ann Lin wished that Siti’s daughter would inherit her mother’s voice.

“Siti is my number one Malaysian singer,” she wrote.

Philip Chan See Weng said he was excited that a “mini Siti” had been born.

Ramli Osman said patience and perseverance had finally paid off for the couple.

Sharon Sidhu said the baby would certainly inherit her mother’s good looks while Sharon Evangeline said she might become the next top child celebrity.

Siti married Khalid, known popularly as Datuk K, on Aug 21, 2006. Siti shared the good news about her pregnancy last October.
