Shafie: Our campaign goes across Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal says Parti Warisan Sabah’s campaign is focused across the state and not only in areas held by other Opposition parties.

Amid mounting accusations by fellow Opposition parties that Warisan was only concentrating on Opposition areas rather than those dominated by Barisan Nasional, Shafie insisted that its campaign was across all areas.

Shafie was responding to Gabungan Sabah deputy president Datuk Yong Teck Lee, who said Warisan was splitting votes in Opposition territory.

“I have carried out my campaign all over Sabah, including in Barisan strongholds,” Shafie said.

“We are working in all areas. I have gone to Libaran (Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman’s political base). Is that an Opposition area?” the Warisan leader asked as he rebutted Yong’s questioning of his continuous gatherings in Opposition- held Beaufort, Keningau and Penampang parliamentary seats as well as the Matunggong and Kadamaian state seats.

Addressing reporters here at the launch of a protem Gabungan Perwira Sabah, a group comprising former security and uniformed officers, Shafie said he had also campaigned in Kinabatangan, Tawau, Kudat and Ranau for this general election.

“They (Gabungan Sabah) can say what they want, it’s all right with me,” he said.

“But what’s important to us is to win the people’s support.”
