Pakatan’s greatest threat is PAS, says Nasrudin

KOTA BARU: PAS has become the target of “guerilla” attacks from multiple angles because rivals fear the rise of the biggest Islamist party in Asia, says its information chief Nasrudin Hassan.

Nasrudin claimed that Pakatan Harapan trained its guns more on the party instead of Umno or Barisan Nasional because it knew PAS posed a “greater threat”.

“With one million members and 7,063 branches in 196 parliamentary constituencies, PAS has emerged as the strongest Malay Muslim party in the region and Asia.

“In reality, we cannot be undermined. They know we have our strengths and good potential in winning three-cornered fights in this general election,” he said.

Nasrudin claimed that wild and baseless allegations, including that the party received funds from Umno, were therefore levelled at PAS.

“Pakatan’s greatest threat is PAS and Gagasan Sejahtera, not Umno or Barisan Nasional,” he said.

“That is why the percentage of attacks against us is far greater.”

On sourcing for political funds, Nasrudin said PAS has no problem at all.

“If each member donates RM35, we can easily collect RM35mil. In the past, we passed around our kopiah and Milo tins to collect donations.

“Now, we are getting more money via online,” he said, adding that PAS also has corporate support.
