A 91-YEAR-OLD man in Kota Baru is looking forward to casting his vote for the 14th time, Kosmo! reported.

Abdullah Yusof, a police pensioner, has voted in every general election since the first one in 1959.

“Although my health is poor after a surgery last year, it won’t stop me from voting on May 9,” he said.

Abdullah, whose surgery left him unable to walk properly, now depends on a cane and sometimes has to use a wheelchair.

“If I can do this, there’s no excuse for healthy young people not to carry out their responsibility,” he said in an interview at his house in Kampung Telipot, Kota Baru.

> Unable to awaken his passenger, a taxi driver drove to a police station to seek help, the same daily reported.

Seremban district police chief Asst Comm Thiew Hock Poh said that in the 9am incident on Tuesday, the 20-year-old man hailed the taxi from Kuala Lumpur to take him to his house in Taman Sri Pulai in Sikamat, Seremban.

The passenger did not give the exact address, so the driver just brought him to the area and tried to wake him up.

After several failed attempts, the driver headed to the Sikamat police station to ask for help.

“Some policemen tried to wake him up, but to no avail.

“We had to contact his mother, who came with other family members,” ACP Thiew said, adding the man finally woke up with their help.

According to the mother, the son has always been a deep sleeper.

“In the evening of the same day, the mother lodged a police report when she realised that pictures and video of the incident had gone viral on social media,” ACP Thiew said.

The case has been referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for further action.

> Slam vocalist Zamani has asked for prayers from fans so he will continue to steer clear of drugs, Utusan Malaysia reported.

The singer said his journey to stay clean may take him a lifetime as it was definitely not easy.

“We won’t know what will happen in the future.

“If you truly love me, please pray for my full recovery,” said the 47-year-old.

He said he welcomed any criticism since he was now trying to improve himself.

On his health, Zamani said he had been suffering from spinal pain for several years.

“People usually relate my back pain to drug abuse but they’re not connected,” he said, hoping that people would be more careful with their comments.
