Church leaders congratulate Pakatan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Council of Churches of Malaysia has congratulated Pakatan Harapan leaders on their achievement in the 14th General Election.

“We also extend our congratulations to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who helms the Government as the seventh Prime Minister,” said the heads of churches of the council in a statement yesterday.

It said the GE14 results had shown the will of the people in urging the Government to start on a reform agenda, restore confidence in the basic institutions of government and cultivate a clean, accountable and just culture of governance.

“We have called upon our churches to offer special prayers for the nation, its government, its leaders and all civil servants who bear the responsibility of taking our nation in a new direction of prosperity and happiness for all its citizens,” said the statement.
