Dr M meets Rafi­dah and Nor Mo­hamed

PU­TRA­JAYA: Prime Min­is­ter Tun Dr Ma­hathir Mo­hamad met for­mer Cab­i­net min­is­ters Tan Sri Nor Mo­hamed Yak­cop and Tan Sri Rafi­dah Aziz.

The meet­ing was held at the Per­dana Lead­er­ship Foun­da­tion soon af­ter Dr Ma­hathir ar­rived here at about 3.10pm af­ter at­tend­ing the Pakatan Hara­pan pres­i­den­tial coun­cil meet­ing ear­lier in Petal­ing Jaya.

Nor Mo­hamed, who pre­vi­ously served as Fi­nance Min­is­ter II, was spot­ted leav­ing the com­pound at about 3.50pm while Rafi­dah, who was pre­vi­ously In­ter­na­tional Trade and In­dus­try Min­is­ter, left 10 min­utes ear­lier.

Nor Mo­hamed, 70, is con­sid­ered the ar­chi­tect of Malaysia’s cor­po­rate trans­for­ma­tion – af­ter the 1998 fi­nan­cial cri­sis.

Nor Mo­hamed hit the lime­light when he tes­ti­fied be­fore the Royal Com­mis­sion of In­quiry that in­ves­ti­gated Bank Ne­gara’s forex losses of RM32­bil be­tween 1991 and 1993.

He was named as the dealer re­spon­si­ble for the losses chalked up by Bank Ne­gara in the 1990s.

Nor Mo­hamed re­signed as deputy chair­man of Khaz­anah Na­sional Bhd and chair­man of Khaz­anah Re­search In­sti­tute in Sept 30 last year.
