Kinabatangan plantation worker held for rape

-

KOTA KINABALU: A plantation worker was arrested for having sex with a teenage student in the east coast Kinabatangan district.

Prior to the 19-year-old’s arrest on Wednesday, it is learnt the worker had been accused of raping the same girl twice, the first time on May 5 and the second, about a week later.

In the May 5 incident, the teenager had met with the girl outside the house she was staying at, and brought her to her room while her family was asleep elsewhere in the house.

The girl in her police report claimed that she had tried fighting him off but he persisted and raped her.

The boy allegedly told her that he would marry her.

She claimed that on May 12, they had sex again, but at a plantation area behind the house. The youth fled when they were found out by the girl’s family.

On May 15, the girl decided to lodge a police report after the boy’s family supposedly refused to take responsibility for his actions. He was arrested at 10am the next day.

District police chief Supt A. Sahak Rahmat confirmed the report and said the case has been classified as statutory rape.
