Penny Tai nominated for Best Producer Award

AMEI, Julia Peng, Faye, Lala Hsu and Amuyi Lu have been nominated for Best Female Vocalist in Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards this year, Oriental Daily reported. Malaysian songstress Penny Tai (pic) has been nominated for the Best Producer Award for Koala Liu’s album titled ExtraOrdin­ary.

In announcing the full list of nominees, the judges also noted that Stefanie Sun, who recently released her album No. 13 – A Dancing Van Gogh, and A-Lin did not make the cut.

Nominees for Best Male Vocalist were Eason Chan, JJ Lin, Nicky Lee, Haor and Sung Nien-yu.

The award presentati­on ceremony will be held on June 23.

> A group of Chinese tourists in Vietnam was asked to change their T-shirts featuring the nine-dash line, referring to the demarcatio­n line used by China that claims almost the entirety of the South China Sea, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.

Airport police noticed their T-shirts when the 14 tourists, who arrived at Cam Ranh Internatio­nal Airport from Xi’an, China, were going through Immigratio­n.

The tourists said they purchased the T-shirts from a market in China.

South China Sea is a subject of territoria­l dispute between China and its South-East Asian neighbours.

> Cruz, the third son of David and Victoria Beckham, is said to be taking part in a talent search in South Korea, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 13-year-old was said to have auditioned for a new 10-person boy band called The Man.

South Korean artiste agency Stardium said it was doing preliminar­y review of internatio­nal participan­ts and was not sure yet if Cruz was indeed one of them.
