Shot-in-Malaysia financial thriller ‘Trading Floor’ released

THE Trading Floor, a Hong Kong financial thriller that was partly shot in Malaysia, has been released with superstar Andy Lau as the producer.

In fact, Lau was supposed to be in Malaysia for the filming of the TV mini-series but had to abandon the plan due to an injury.

He was thrown off a horse during a commercial shoot in Thailand in January last year. He spent two months at a Hong Kong hospital for treatment.

Sin Chew Daily, which was in Hong Kong for the mini-series launch, reported that Lau had expressed regret for not being able to be with the crew during the filming.

His wife Carol Chu is a Malaysian. Hong Kong actor Francis Ng and Taiwanese heartthrob Joseph Chang were among those starring in the five-episode thriller.

Malaysian actress Loo Aye Keng also had a role in The Trading Floor.

Director K.K. Wong joked that the traffic jam in the Klang Valley was the most unforgettable thing for him.

Malaysia, he said, was picked as one of the settings because of the presence of colonial-style buildings. Other scenes that made it into the mini-series included a wet market and Malaysian streets.

> In a lavish wedding in China, the bride was gifted with gold bracelets and necklaces as well as a five-carat diamond ring by her husband, the same daily reported.

However, the woman told the guests she did not care about the value of the gifts as she truly loved her husband, who is the only son of China’s ceramics tycoon Huang Yingming.

The wedding became the talk of the town for its extravagance, including performances by pop idols.
