Man charged with killing three siblings

TELUK INTAN: A man who ran amok and slashed three siblings to death recently has been charged in court.

Shahrul Pitri Jusoh, 35, was charged with murdering Mohammad Faqih Zahirulhaq Mohd Fadzil, five, and his two younger siblings Muhammad Firash Zafrill, three, and Nur Zia Fasihah, two.

The maintenanc­e worker also faces three counts of attempted murder and voluntaril­y causing grievous hurt.

He was charged in two magistrate's courts here yesterday.

In the first magistrate’s court, he was alleged to have committed the offences at Rumah Projek Bantuan Bina Rumah Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Perak in Kampung Sungai Haji Mohammad, Selekoh, Bagan Datuk, between 2.30pm and 2.40pm on May 17.

However, no plea was recorded after the charges were read out to him before Magistrate Syahdatul Kamila Zakaria.

In another magistrate’s court, Shahrul Pitri pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder the siblings' mother Zuraidah Mat Ali, 35; religious teacher Redhuan Embi, 32, and Standard Four pupil Nur Aina Umaira Subri, 10.

He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of voluntaril­y causing grievous hurt to the siblings’ eldest sister Nur Zuryn Fazira, nine, using a machete.

The four offences were allegedly committed at the house and in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Haji Muhammad, Selekoh between 2.15pm and 2.45pm on the same day.

Shahrul Pitri was denied bail. Magistrate Norita Mohd Ardani set July 4 for mention pending the chemist and postmortem reports of the victims.
