Malaysian trio on track to create history at Le Mans

-

PETALING JAYA: Jazeman Jaafar and Nabil Jeffri have not been fasting but it’s all for a special cause.

They can be excused as the duo and Weiron Tan are embarking on their biggest adventure in their respective racing careers.

Jazeman, Weiron and Nabil will be etching their names in the history books as the first allMalaysian lineup to race in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in France from June 1619.

The Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota trio will be racing in Le Mans for the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

“It will be a bit of a challenge, especially for myself and Nabil, as the race falls during Hari Raya. In fact, we are not fasting because the 24 hours requires a lot of strength, endurance and dietary planning on our part.

“We have to keep ourselves fit. The level of competition is very high as there are a lot of former Formula 1 drivers.

“These are established drivers and that’s the challenge for us.

“But we have earned our place on merit and we also set high expectations.

“I always go to a race and want to do well,” said Jazeman.

The allMalaysian lineup will be part of the 20car grid competing in the LMP2 category and Nabil said the target remains the same although their preparations fall within the fasting month.

“We have done all the preparations and ready to take the biggest challenge of our careers.

“Hari Raya in Le Mans will not be too bad as our family members may be coming. They also plan to bring Hari Raya delicacies for us.” said Nabil.

Held annually since 1923, the Le Mans race is the oldest endurance racing event in the world.
