Sultan Nazrin to be guest of honour at campaign event
PETALING JAYA: This year’s World #QuranHour on Thursday will see the participation of Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah as the guest of honour.
World #QuranHour is a campaign to encourage Muslims all over the world to read, understand and apply the values from the Quran in their daily lives.
“It is meant to inspire the ummah (Muslim community) to uphold a good character based on the true Quranic values,” said Malaysia World #QuranHour coordinator Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub.

He said this year’s World #QuranHour, which falls on the 22nd day of Ramadan, is set to become the biggest campaign platform yet to unite the global Muslim community under the banner of the Quran.
“The social media campaign soared from 87 million impressions in 2016 to 357 million impressions in 2017.
“We look forward to achieving up to one billion impressions this year, as this cam- paign is to be held simultaneously in 100 countries this Thursday,” said Hussamuddin, who is the publisher of Malay daily Sinar Harian.
He said this year’s event will be held at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque of International Islamic University Malaysia in Gombak. The Quranic recital will be from 10am to noon.
Last year, the event was held at Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya.
Malaysia #QuranHour is initiated by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation in 2015.
Apart from World #QuranHour, Malaysia will also organise its own #QuranHour on Aug 30 this year.
