IPOH: A caterer has stepped in to raise funds for Tabung Harapan Malaysia by selling food for three days here.

Yan Chee Kuan, 39, said he planned to raise about RM10,000 and that all proceeds from the sales would be channelled to the fund.

He said the sales would be held at the Menglembu market, SPPK market and Ipoh Central market on June 7, 8 and 9 respectively.

“We will start at 7.30am and be open until all the food has been sold,” he said in a press conference at the Perak DAP headquarters here yesterday.

“We will be selling six kinds of dishes at RM10 each,” he said, adding that the food will be non-halal.

“These include chicken leg with mushroom, pickled vegetables, tofu, curry chicken, turmeric chicken and fried oatmeal-coated fish,” he added.

Yan said he wanted to contribute and do his part to help the country in its time of need.

“At first, I just wanted to donate some money but I felt it was not enough.

“I then thought of a better and more creative way to contribute by selling food and donating all the proceeds.

“I also hope to inspire other businessmen and entrepreneurs to do the same,” Yan added.

On the Finance Ministry’s Facebook, the amount collected for the Tabung Harapan fund has now reached RM31.4mil as at about 4pm yesterday.
