Musang King faces off against Thai durian

-

KOSMO! reported that Malaysia’s Musang King durian is expected to challenge Thailand’s own “Monthong” durian for the position of King of Fruits in the Land of Smiles after the country’s authorities allowed the fruit to be sold in the kingdom.

Previously, the Musang King – which is famous for its golden yellow flesh and bittersweet taste, and is a favourite among Chinese tourists – could only be brought into the country in frozen packets.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Ministry deputy secretarygeneral Datuk Sallehhuddin Hassan said Thailand would become the new export market for Malaysia’s durians.

“People who have never tasted

Musang King would say Monthong is the best.

“But after tasting Musang King, the Thai durian is left behind in terms of taste,” he said.

> Thousands of counterfeit branded garments have been smuggled into Malaysia from Bangladesh and China by traders to meet the high demand for Hari Raya, reported Harian Metro.

A team of enforcement officers from the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry raided four premises – three of which were run by Bangladeshis – in Jalan Kenanga, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday.

“Some 3,000 shirts and jeans with the Levi’s brand, believed to be worth RM150,000, were confiscated,” said an officer.

> The same daily reported that actor Remy Ishak said he could not answer questions on when he would wed his fiancee, entrepreneur Ezza Yusof.

“Marriage is the unity of two hearts and we will marry when we are both ready.

“Our relationship has its ups and downs.

“I’m not ready to commit to marriage right now because I still have many things to achieve in my career,” said the 36-year-old actor, whose real name is Mohamad Zalimie Ishak.

Remy, who is currently filming the movie Pulang, said he and Ezza had agreed to a two-year engagement before getting married.

“I admit that there have been many challenges so far during our engagement, but I want to give Ezza time to know herself.

“If she is still not ready, we will postpone the nuptials,” said Remy, who first gained fame for his role in the TV drama Nur Kasih.
