KUALA TERENGGANU: As others in the village go about celebrating Hari Raya, Rosiana Rosli can only sit and watch from her old house in Kampung Padang Kemunting, Batu Rakit.

Rosiana, 37, lost her right leg to diabetes and could lose the left one as well, complaining of no sensation in her foot anymore.

“These days, Hari Raya is not the same anymore as when I could still move around,” she said at her home.

Even the small house, which she inherited from her grandparents, has seen better days.

She lives there with her 36yearold brother, Ruhaimi, who has mental health issues and her son Mohd Syarul Azim, 12, who has learning disabilities.

Rosiana, who has to depend on her relatives to take her for regular checkups at the hospital, has yet to

find employment.

She used to work as a cook at a university but had to quit after her leg was amputated four years ago.

Rosiana, who is divorced, tried to make ends meet by baking biscuits to supply to traders and merchants.

However, that too had to stop after she was warded for health complications.

“Unfortunately, after I was hospitalised, my customers also stopped calling,” she lamented.

Due to their condition, the trio receive a monthly stipend from the Welfare Department, which is their only form of subsistence.

However, she is grateful to Good Samaritans who offer help.

Although there is no big celebration at her home, Rosiana said she was happy that her only child would at least have some new clothes to wear for Hari Raya.

“I managed to get something for him,” she said.
