Khee shines at inaugural Palm Resort event

Michael Khee emerged with the leading honours from the inaugural Fuji San Nama Sake Golf Day held at Palm Resort Golf & Country Club in Johor.

In second place behind Khee in the A Medal was Bong Tze Leong, while Choo Kin Min was third.

The B Medal standings were topped by K Yao, while Chong Kok Heng was runner-up and Dovian Yeo Buck Hong third.

The ladies’ title went to Sally Lim, while Clara Ang was second and Shanno Ng finished third.

Goh ChingYeong claimed the longest drive prize with a tee-shot that measured 357 yards and Helen Ho took the ladies’ prizes with a 231-yard drive.

The event also marked the new limited release of JootzSoju – Mango, Green Apple, Soursop and Lychee, of which each player received two bottles.

The tournament also featured two novelty events that drew much intrest – Use your driver and hit the green (Hole 3) and Hit the Runway (on Hole 12).

A spokesman for the oraginsers said: “We wanted to add a bit more fun and get the players to enjoy themselves instead of getting stressed out. And we saw that they really enjoyed the two new novelty events – or at least most of them.

“We are planning to host sinilar torunament­s in other parts of the country, including the Klang Valley and trust that the good support we received here in johor will be replicated.”

A field of 105 players teed off on fine afternoon and a record 34 ladies also participat­ed.

The tournament partners were CrestLink, Nicoya Cigars, Focus Point, Champions Golf (Singapore), Palm Resort GCC, the Black & White Group.
