Perak sacks seven GLC execs for excessive spending

-

IPOH: The Perak government has sacked seven executive officers of a government-linked company (GLC) appointed under the previous administration for excessive spending of the company’s funds.

Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the seven executive officers were fired following the resignation of the company’s chief executive officer.

Without disclosing the name of the GLC, Ahmad Faizal said the dismissal would save the state RM150,000 a month.

“What I saw in the company was a bit ridiculous. It is not making much profit but the overhead is high and has many officers who are not needed,” he told reporters after attending Pakatan’s Hari Raya do here yesterday.

Ahmad Faizal said the state government would think of the best way to resolve the expenditure issue.

“I will not disclose the name of the GLC until I solve this problem.

“As mentioned in the Pakatan manifesto, there are many things that we will table at the state assembly, so it will be public knowledge anyway,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal said the Perak state executive council members would use the same official vehicles used by those in the previous government.

“I have decided not to purchase any new cars this year.

“In fact, there will be auctions for cars from the GLC, as many of them are not needed,” he added. — Bernama
