Dr M expected to visit China to boost ties

PRIME Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to visit China to strengthen bilateral ties, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.

According to the daily, the Pakatan Harapan government brought the matter up with China, which would send out an official invite to expedite Dr Mahathir’s visit.

Chinese Embassy’s minister counsellor Chen Chen was quoted as confirming the matter.

He said China was hopeful that Dr Mahathir would visit the country soon, adding the premier had also expressed his interest to do so.

Asked whether bilateral ties were affected after Pakatan Harapan took over the Federal Government, Chen said both countries always maintained good relationsh­ips.

“There will be no change in the future, and the ties will only become better and better,” he said, describing Dr Mahathir as an “old friend” of China.

> China Press reported that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng visited DAP founding member Dr Chen Man Hin who injured his head after a fall.

He spent about 45 minutes at Dr Chen’s house on Saturday.

Dr Chen is recuperati­ng after receiving 10 stitches to his head.

Dr Chen, who was discharged on Friday, was in good spirits as he spent time chit-chatting with Lim and Negri Sembilan DAP exco members Teo Kok Seong, J. Arul Kumar, Choo Ken Hwa and Nicole Tan.

Teo said Dr Chen was energetic, adding that he even wanted to get back to work the following day.

At about 6pm on Thursday, Dr Chen suffered head injuries after losing his balance while exercising at a club house gym in Seremban.

He was rushed to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for treatment.
