Spotlight on alternative treatments
Chiropractic care, hydrogen treatment and nutrition among expo attractions
PETALING JAYA: The Star Health Expo 2018 will highlight the benefits of alternative treatments such as chiropractic and hydrogen therapy as well as the use of nutrition in caring for joints.
Chiropractor Dr Jim Osterwise said the treatment was not just for pain relief but also helped to maintain health and wellness.
“It helps to regain and maintain health naturally. It should be chiropractic first, drugs second and surgery last,” said Dr Osterwise who will be speaking on the subject at the event on July 14.
People under chiropractic care enjoyed higher immune confidence, said Dr Osterwise, who has a practice with the ESA Wellness and the Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Saleha Complementary Health Care Centre here.
“It has been shown that 20 minutes after an adjustment, there are increased white blood cells circulating. This is your immune system at work,” he added.
People conscious about their health and wellness and those seeking a deeper understanding of how the nervous system works should attend the talk, said Dr Osterwise.
On July 15, medical physicist Dr Yeong Chai Hong of IRCare Sdn Bhd will be discussing the molecular properties of hydrogen, its characteristics and healing power.
“The talk will also cover the process of how hydrogen encourages healing from a molecu lar level and its selective nature as a strong antioxidant in combating free radicals in the body,” she said.
The talk will also centre on the availability of hydrogen therapy in combating various diseases and illness in Malaysia.
“The topic is suitable for all and will also benefit those seeking a safe, natural and noninvasive form of alternative treatment with no side effects,” she said.
Jessica Ho, a nutritionist with Medispec (M) Sdn Bhd, will talk about the nutrients needed in caring for healthy joints.
“We will look into how wear and tear will cause different joint problems and to counter this using nutrition,” said Ho.
Elderly people with joint problems, fitness enthusiasts and athletes could benefit from the talk, she said.
