PETALING JAYA: The Star Health Expo 2018, which starts today and ends on Sunday, will feature various health-related programmes and services.

The Expo, one of the largest locally and held for the 17th consecutive year, showcases the latest in fitness trends, healthy living , and nutrition along with medical and alternative treatments.

Formerly known as Star Fit For Life, the event connects the public with medical practitioners along with health and lifestyle experts.

The highlights this year include the LIVE GREAT Dodgeball Open, Kinect Workout, Sky Track, Bike Race events along with the first Live Great Healthy Brekkie Challenge.

The challenge will see aspiring cooks prepare a healthy “no-cook” meal during the competition on Sunday.

Full-time trainer Shanon Lee Ee Mei, who specialises in mind-body healing therapy, will speak about the ill effects of ionising radiation and how prevention is vital.

“Right now, we have a lot of wireless devices with radiation spreading through the air.

“We are having more and more cases of cancer and we are actually getting weaker,” said Lee from Swas Breath, hoping to educate about the risk especially for young children.

On Saturday, yoga instructor Savy Ho will be speaking on loving kindness and sound healing.

The OhanaJo studio facilitator will introduce two methods of sound healing, using crystal singing bowls and Tibetan brass bowls. Mindfulness coach Remington Clooney, also from OhanaJo studio, will be speaking on integrating mindfulness into everyday urban life.

Clooney, who holds a Masters of Education and is certified in yoga, will illustrate how mindfulness can help reduce stress, release old habits and transform lives.

On Sunday, Datin Sofia Stefani will be conducting a talk on pelvic healing coupled with an introduction to her own self-created exer- cises to overcome involuntary urination (incontinence), chronic lower back pain and low libido among others.

Having struggled with severe organ prolapse herself, Sofia has helped women overcome these difficulties.

“Two weeks after I practised my own exercises, my incontinence was gone.

“When I posted on Facebook about my exercises, over 200 women responded, wanting help as well,” the corporate trainer said.

Star Health Expo 2018 is organised by I.Star Events Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Star Media Group Berhad, with Great Eastern Life as exclusive event partner.
