Students to learn all things science at forum
TWO Universiti Teknologi Petrtonas students Hem Kumarran Krishnarajah and Kausalyah Nalasavagan will be representing Malaysia at the 60th London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF).
A world leading event for the globe’s most promising young scientists, annually 500 students aged between 16 to 21 years old attend LIYSF from over 70 countries worldwide.
This cutting-edge residential programme will run from July 25 to Aug 8, celebrating its 60th edition, held at the historic Imperial College, London.
Over the two-week duration, students will reside nearby and embark on a world-class programme of lectures, with access to research centres, laboratories and leading education institutions.
The event aims to provide all students with a broad, engaging learning environment with a variety of lectures and specialists’ seminars.
The keynote speaker is Dr Michael Moloney, CEO of the American Institute of Physics and the closing address will be given by Dr Jeremy Farrar, Director of the Wellcome Trust.
Many attendees have been selected as prize winners from competitions to attend; attesting to their talent.
While the students are in London they will also be given the opportunity to enjoy the worldfamous city with trips and visits to historic locations such as The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace.
“We are so excited to be attending this event.
“It will be a fantastic opportunity to meet other young people who love science and I’m really looking forward to seeing some of London!” said Hem.
LIYSF director Richard Myhill said the forum is all about helping young scientists develop and share ideas with student peers from around the world.
“It offers students an opportunity to learn about different international scientific approaches and share in each other’s cultures. We like to think we are nurturing the next generation of scientists and encouraging collaboration, something that is vital to the future of science,” he said.
