Masnizam will continue as group CEO, says Prasarana

-

PETALING JAYA:

Prasarana has denied reports that its president and group chief executive officer Masnizam Hashin is expected to resign following the departure of its chairman Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

In a statement, its board of directors expressed full confidence in Masnizam’s leadership in running the state-owned transportation company since she took office on Jan 18.

“Always passionate in her work, Masnizam immediately started a host of innovative measures in line with her cost-cutting and revenue- generating programmes under a fresh initiative named ‘Inventing Prasarana 2.0’,” it said yesterday.

Masnizam first joined the company as the head of the Legal Department in 2004 before being promoted to top positions.

Prasarana was responding to a report by a financial daily yesterday quoting sources as saying that Masnizam might see her three-year tenure shortened following criticism by lawmakers on the high cost of the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) project.

Expressing regret over the report, the board said this was mischievous and uncalled for, especially when transformation measures were being undertaken in the group’s interest, particularly on LRT 3.

Earlier, Khalid confirmed that he had resigned from his chairman post.

“Yes, I have resigned. I tendered my resignation and gave onemonth’s notice on July 17,” said the former inspector-general of Police.
