Singer Wong seeks new concert venue
MALAYSIAN singer-songwriter Michael Wong is looking for a venue for his concert and is seeking suggestions online, China Press reported.
He plans to hold a concert in Malaysia next year, but his team learned that the rental at the Axiata Arena indoor stadium had increased.
Wong held his last concert three years ago in Kuala Lumpur at the venue, which was previously known as Putra Indoor Stadium.
“Besides the higher rental, there are eight requirements we have to fulfil, which we think are unreasonable. One of them is to rent the sound system and equipment from designated companies,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
“We are required to use their ticketing system too.”
Wong’s Facebook fans suggested the SPICE Arena in Penang or Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur as possible venues.
He will start his concert tour in Chengdu, China, in September, followed by Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles and New York.
> The Exchange 106 tower, which is often linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal, is expected to be completed by yearend, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.
Quoting the New York Times, the Chinese daily said the tower was about 60% leased.
The highest building in South-East Asia, it is the centrepiece of the Tun Razak Exchange with an office, retail and residential development.
It is among the world’s 15 tallest buildings and is taller than the Petronas Twin Towers.
