Kelantan govt sponsors teen’s medical treatment

-

THE Kelantan state government has agreed to cover the cost of the medical treatment needed by teenager K. Jeyaraj, who is suffering from double kidney failure, Malaysia Nanban reported.

R. Jeyaletchumi said her son had suffered kidney problems for 14 years.

The single mother from Kuala Ketil, Kedah, said they had to travel to Alor Setar frequently for his medical treatment.

Baling PAS Supporters Club leader L. Devaraj, who found out about their plight, agreed to cover their travel expenses.

The Kelantan state government has also agreed to bear the cost of the treatment, which is expected to reach up to RM200,000.

Jeyaletchumi and Jeyaraj thanked Devaraj and Kuala Ketil state assemblyman Mejar (Rtd) Mansor Zakaria, who helped them get the assistance.

> Cattle farmers in Rajasthan, India, are making more money selling cow urine than milk, Tamil Nesan reported.

Farmers rearing high-grade cattle in the state reported that the milk was being sold for up to 25 rupees (RM1.40) per litre but komiyam, the cow urine, fetched up to 30 rupees (RM1.80).

Some farmers in the state capital Jaipur are reportedly selling it for 50 rupees (RM2.95) per litre.

The cow urine, which has been dubbed liquid gold due to its profitability, is apparently used by farmers as an organic fertiliser which also helps keep insects away.

It is also used in some religious ceremonies and therapeutically in traditional Indian medicine.

A university in Udaipur is reportedly buying around 300 to 500 litres of komiyam for research and farming purposes.

The farmers said they stayed up during the night to collect komiyam to make sure none of it was wasted.
