Sivarraajh: It’s an ‘expansion of the Lim Dynasty’
MIC Youth chief Datuk Sivarraajh Chandran is crying foul at the appointment of DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s daughter as a senator to the Dewan Negara.
Sivarraajh, who is Cameron Highlands MP, said in a statement that such appointments could result in conflict of interest in the decision-making process at the people’s expense.
“There is worry that the move to appoint a family member to an important post will cultivate the practice of nepotism among politicians,” he said.
Sivarraajh claimed that Lim Hui Ying ( pic) was said to have been rejected as a candidate for the Tanjong parliamentary seat in the May general election for fear of the perception of nepotism.
“Are they now keeping silent over the appointment of DAP adviser’s daughter as senator?” he asked, describing the appointment as the “expansion of the Lim Dynasty”.
Sivarraajh called for an immediate stop to the appointment of family members of senior government ministers to decision-making posts.
Last Friday, Hui Ying, who is Penang DAP secretary, together with former Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusoff, were appointed by the state as senators for a threeyear term.
On Monday, Umno’s Bera MP Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also criticised Hui Ying’s appointment.
The former minister called it as nothing short of nepotism.
