Stabbing cases – one a roommate, the other suspect’s hubby

GEORGE TOWN: Two murder cases involving foreigners have been solved following the arrests of 10 suspects by the police.

A 28-year-old foreigner, who was found drunk at the scene with blood on his hands and shirt, was among the suspects.

He was arrested at a shophouse in Argyll Road here.

The Myanmar national was suspected to have killed Sarbudeen Shikander, 72, and another man, whose identity has yet to be ascertaine­d, inside their rented room on the first floor of the building.

Deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said both victims were stabbed with a sharp weapon.

A passer-by stumbled upon their bloodied remains.

“Police who arrived at the scene found the Myanmar man with blood on his hands.

“The suspect, along with his 52-year-old roommate from Myanmar, were arrested,” said Supt Saravanan.

In a separate case, a woman and seven other Thai nationals were picked up over the death of a 36-year-old Thai man.

house in Chulia Street Ghaut here. “We believed the victim was stabbed by his wife following a quarrel over money.

“We rounded up 14 residents of the guesthouse to have their statements recorded, and seven of them, aged between 30 and 50, were arrested after that.

“The wife admitted to stabbing her husband in the left chest with a knife and the weapon was recovered from her waist pouch,” said Supt Saravanan.

The suspects have been remanded for two weeks to assist in the murder.
