PTA wants school relocated for safety

THE managemant and parents of pupils at SJK (T) Ladang Mados in Ulu Tiram, Johor, want authoritie­s to look into relocating the school and carrying out repairs to ensure its safety, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The estate school, said to be more than 90 years old, is located about 12km from Ulu Tiram town and has only 11 pupils.

Most are from Kampung Sungai Tiram and numbers are expected to fall as families move from the area.

The parent-teacher associatio­n and school management were promised the school would be relocated to Taman Bestari by the previous government.

Tiram assemblyma­n S. Gopalakris­hnam recently visited the school and was told it was in a state of disrepair, with one of the building’s pillars also broken.

He promised to raise concerns about the school’s safety and the issue of relocating it to Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian

> Search and rescue efforts are under way after a father in Tamil Nadu, India accidently dropped his son into the Kauveri River while trying to take a selfie at a bridge in Namakkal district, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The father, Babu, and his son had gone to the bridge to see its unusually fast currents due to the recent downpours.

Babu pleaded with the bystanders for help but no one dared jump in after the boy.
