Brigitte Lin divorces hubby, gets RM1bil alimony

-

RUMOURS are rife that former Taiwanese film goddess Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia’s (pic) marriage to billionaire Michael Ying, 58, has ended after 24 years.

Major Chinese dailies reported that an A-list actress uncovered this at a private function. She claimed that Lin, 63, received about HK$2bil (RM1.06bil) in alimony after the divorce.

According to Taiwan’s Mirror Media, the decision to separate was allegedly due to Ying’s philandering ways.

It also reported that Lin felt it was the right time as their daughters, aged 22 and 16, were grown up.

Previous reports about the marriage being on the rocks surfaced in 2016. Lin denied these.

However the rumours gained traction this time around because the information was from a well-connected source with high social standing.

In April, Lin was spotted by paparazzi going on a movie date with a Caucasian man after she received the Golden Mulberry Lifetime Achievement Award at the Far East Film Festival in Italy.

> China Press reported that the Kedah Wildlife Department caught three civet cats at SJKC Chung Hwa in Sungai Yan after several pupils and teachers were bitten by fleas from the animals.

The school principal said a civet cat was caught by wildlife personnel on Wednesday. They set up two other traps before leaving.

An adult and a smaller civet cat were subsequently caught.

The school, which has 58 stu- dents, has been plagued by flea attacks since June.

> Major Chinese dailies also reported that a popular brand of preserved tangerine peel was found to contain excessive traces of lead during inspections. The snack had since been banned in China.

The China State Administration for Market Regulation revealed that samples were found to have up to eight times the acceptable level of the toxic metal.

The preserved tangerine peel is produced in Guangdong and is widely sold overseas, including in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and the United States.
