Bus driver killed in crash

IPOH: An at­tempt by an ex­press bus driver to over­take a trailer caused him his life.

Mohd Az­izi Ab­dul Ghani, 37, from Tereng­ganu, who was driv­ing the bus with 30 pas­sen­gers, died on the spot af­ter crash­ing head on with a lorry at the 32Km of the East-West High­way near Gerik yes­ter­day at about 1.50am.

Two pas­sen­gers sus­tained light in­juries.

In the three-ve­hi­cle pile-up, 17- year- old lorry at­ten­dant Muham­mad Aza­har Mohd N’ain, from Tanah Merah, Ke­lan­tan was se­ri­ously in­jured while his fa­ther and driver of the lorry, Mohd N'ain Halim, 43, sus­tained light in­juries.

The driver of the trailer, Arif­fin Ma­mat, 63, and his son Mo­ham­mad Aniza Arif­fin, 27, from Wakaf Baru, Ke­lan­tan, were not hurt, said Perak traf­fic chief Supt Ah­mad Ad­nan Basri.
