Goldsmith robbed of RM500,000 in jewellery
KAJANG: Three men took about two minutes to escape with RM500,000 worth of jewellery after robbing a goldsmith at a hypermarket in Bangi Avenue here.
Armed with a pistol and a hammer, two of them went into the shop at about 1.45pm on Friday while another waited outside in their getaway vehicles.
It is learnt that one of the suspects held the goldsmith’s workers at gunpoint while the other smashed the display counter with a hammer.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the workers were unhurt.
“Based on CCTV recordings, the culprits escaped on two motorcycles, which were parked outside the hypermarket.
“This is the second time the same goldsmith was hit by robbers. The first incident occurred earlier this year,” he said when contacted.
He urged anyone with information to contact Investigating Officer Asst Supt Redzuan at 019-271 4100 or the nearest police station.
