Gold­smith robbed of RM500,000 in jew­ellery

KAJANG: Three men took about two min­utes to es­cape with RM500,000 worth of jew­ellery af­ter rob­bing a gold­smith at a hy­per­mar­ket in Bangi Av­enue here.

Armed with a pis­tol and a ham­mer, two of them went into the shop at about 1.45pm on Fri­day while an­other waited out­side in their get­away ve­hi­cles.

It is learnt that one of the sus­pects held the gold­smith’s work­ers at gun­point while the other smashed the dis­play counter with a ham­mer.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ah­mad Dzaf­fir Mohd Yus­sof said the work­ers were un­hurt.

“Based on CCTV record­ings, the cul­prits es­caped on two mo­tor­cy­cles, which were parked out­side the hy­per­mar­ket.

“This is the sec­ond time the same gold­smith was hit by rob­bers. The first in­ci­dent oc­curred ear­lier this year,” he said when con­tacted.

He urged any­one with in­for­ma­tion to con­tact In­ves­ti­gat­ing Of­fi­cer Asst Supt Redzuan at 019-271 4100 or the near­est po­lice sta­tion.
