MST in Tay­lorMade part­ner­ship

South-East Asia’s lead­ing re­tailer ap­pointed as the ex­clu­sive dis­trib­u­tor in Malaysia and Sin­ga­pore

IN a move that will cer­tainly make waves in the in­dus­try, Tay­lorMade an­nounced the ap­point­ment of MST Golf as its ex­clu­sive distri­bu­tion part­ner in Malaysia and Sin­ga­pore.

Elab­o­rat­ing the move, brought about by the spilt of adi­das and Tay­lorMade on the global stage, Tay­lorMade’s vice-pres­i­dent and man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Ja­pan and Asia Mark Shel­don-Allen said they were ex­cited and looked for­ward to the two part­ners grow­ing the brand.

The part­ner­ship, ef­fec­tive Oct 1, was an­nounced in Kuala Lumpur with deal­ers, in­dus­try per­son­al­i­ties and me­dia from both coun­tries present.

Com­ment­ing on the de­vel­op­ment, Shel­don-Allen said: “MST’s ex­pe­ri­ence and strength, pas­sion and sup­port for golf and the Tay­lorMade brand is mas­sive and we are ex­cited to be work­ing with them as our strate­gic part­ner for the Sin­ga­pore and Malaysia mar­kets.

“We are re­ally look­ing for­ward to grow­ing and tak­ing Tay­lorMade to the next level in these mar­kets.”

MST Golf chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Ng Yap said a new Tay­lorMade team has been put in place un­der the aus­pices of their golf whole­sale di­vi­sion.

“This team will man­age the brand and distri­bu­tion,” said Ng. “The new Tay­lorMade team will also take care of ser­vic­ing deal­ers, in­clud­ing MST Golf Re­tail, in the same way Tay­lorMade adi­das Golf (prior to the spilt of the two) did when they were man­ag­ing it as a sub­sidiary com­pany.”

Also at the event, Tay­lorMade launched three new prod­ucts, namely the GAPR, a new res­cue iron with three dis­tinct heads, the M Gloire, a pre­mium model from Ja­pan and now part of the M fam­ily of prod­ucts, and the P760 irons that have en­hanced for­give­ness prop­er­ties.

MST Golf is the largest golf ser­vice provider in South-East Asia with com­pa­nies in Malaysia, Sin­ga­pore, Thai­land and Viet­nam, and a busi­ness pres­ence in the key mar­kets of the re­gion.

Tay­lorMade Golf has its head­quar­ters in Carls­bad, Cal­i­for­nia, and is a man­u­fac­turer of high per­for­mance equip­ment with in­dus­try-lead­ing in­no­va­tive prod­ucts like M3/M4 met­al­woods, M3/M4 irons and TP5/TP5X golf balls. The brand is also prom­i­nent on the US PGA Tour with one of the strong­est ath­lete port­fo­lios in golf that in­cludes world num­ber one Dustin John­son and five of the top-10 in the global rank­ings.

On a day to cel­e­brate, MST and Tay­lorMade rep­re­sen­ta­tives pose for a photo along­side Ng Yap and Mark Shel­don-Allen who sealed the deal with a hand­shake.
