‘Winners should not be vindictive’

-

ALOR SETAR: Former MCA president Tan Sri Dr Chua Soi Lek hopes there will be no “political vindictiveness” after the Nov 4 party polls.

“Whoever wins in the party election should not be vindictive. They should not hunt down the people who do not vote for them.

“The voting will be very transparent as whoever is involved in the party polls will know who is supporting whom.

“It has its pros and cons,” he said after meeting with party members here yesterday.

Some 35,000 divisional delegates will be voting nationwide on Nov 4.

Dr Chua said the delegates must choose the right team that can reach out to the grassroots.

He is rooting for the GanTee’s team in which Gan Ping Sieu and Datuk Tee Siew Kiong will vie for the post of president and deputy president, respectively.

Gan’s team includes vice-president candidates Datuk Ei Kim Hock, Datuk Ooi Siew Kim, Datuk Lau Lee and Datuk Seri Dr Lim Chin Fui.

They will be up against MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who will go for the top post.

His running mate is Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

The WeeMah line-up, with the backing of outgoing president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, also comprises vice-president candidates Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, Datuk Seri Yew Teong Look, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng and Datuk Lim Ban Hong.
