School principal in sodomy case remanded

BUTTERWORT­H: A school principal here has been remanded for three days in connection with sodomy allegation­s against him.

The 54-year-old man (pic), clad in a T-shirt and brown pants, went bare-footed to a magistrate’s court, where the remand order was granted.

Seberang Prai district police headquarte­rs after the order was granted.

The principal was detained on Thursday after two students lodged police reports on Tuesday claiming that they were sodomised by him at the school in Kepala Batas.

The two boys, aged 11 and 13, lodged their reports after telling their respective families.

They were sent to Kepala Batas Hospital and transferre­d to Seberang Jaya Hospital for further examinatio­n.

An earlier police statement confirmed injuries found in their private parts.

It was also reported that apart from the two students, several other victims have also claimed that they were sodomised by the principal.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 377e of the Penal Code for inciting a child to an act of gross indecency where if convicted can be jailed up to five years and be liable to whipping.
