Jack Ma regains No. 1 spot on China’s rich list

Alibaba Group co-founder last topped Forbes’ ranking in 2014

CHINA’s self-made billionaire Jack Ma (pic) has topped Forbes’ China Rich List despite having US$4bil (RM16.7bil) less compared with a year ago.

Ma, who co-founded the Alibaba Group, which is one of the world’s biggest e-commerce giants, was ranked third last year, Oriental Daily reported.

With a US$34.6bil (RM144bil) estimated worth, Ma, 54, returned as No. 1 on the list for the first time since 2014.

The chairman of Internet company Tencent Holdings Ltd, Ma Huateng, who is worth US$32.8bil (RM136.9bil), occupied the second spot despite a US$6bil (RM26bil) drop in fortune.

Last year’s number one, real estate magnate Hui Ka Yan saw his net worth fall by 28% to US$30.8bil. He is now No. 3 on the list.

Hui is the chairman of Hong Kong-listed Evergrande Group, one of China’s biggest property developers.

The man and his colleagues showed the food to the stall workers, who threw it away and offered them a refund of S$3.50 (RM10.50).

The man reported the incident to the National Environment Agency.

Subsequently, the mixed rice stall was given a written warning and penalised.

Quoting Channel News Asia, the daily reported that the incident happened on Tuesday at Plaza Singapura.
