British envoy to S. Korea to replace Treadell

The United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonweal­th Office (FCO) has appointed a new High Commission­er to Malaysia to succeed Vicki Treadell when her term ends in April.

Current British ambassador to South Korea Charles Hay will take over.

Among previous positions Hay held were FCO director of consular services and assistant director of HR services.

Hay’s other postings include Brussels and Prague.

He is married to Pascale Sutherland and has two daughters.

Treadell, who turns 60 next year, is the first female British High Commission­er to Malaysia. She was appointed to the post in 2014.
