Festive celebration at school
THE Festival of Lights was celebrated by the teachers and pupils of SK Sri Langat in Banting.
This event was organised by the school’s Tamil Language Panel and the Moral Education Panel.
The event started with a dance presentation by the pupils.
SK Sri Langat senior assistant (Administration) Noor Aini Sulaiman officiated at the event. A member of the Parent-Teacher Association Datuk Gopinaathan Arunachalam was also present.
Ten pupils from less fortunate families were given goodie bags for the festive season.
Pupils were introduced to the tradition of making murukku, henna drawing and kolam. One pupil was very talented in doing the henna and was the centre of attraction. Teachers and pupils took the opportunity to draw henna on their hands.
There was also an exhibition on Indian traditional costumes and sweets as well as the history of Deepavali.
Pupils also took part in kolam and colouring competitions.
This was for the pupils to understand and appreciate the Indian culture during the celebration of this festival.
